Hickory Top WMA 23-June-2026

        Knowing there was more trash at the location I worked on Sunday, I headed back to the same spot and got started again. I went in with the goal again of just one bag, but there were a couple things that I had seen on Sunday that, if I could get to, I knew I would be carrying out more.        I do not see everything and had passed these items multiple times now. Got them on this trip though.        This small item was one of the first things picked up. Seeing it like this, I just thought it would have been a piece that broke off of something. Instead it was the main part of a product I did not know existed.           I just looked it up and it is missing two parts. A clip that you can attach to a belt loop and a lighter holder that attaches to the ball at the bottom. The retractable cord still worked. I get the use of the product, I just can't imagine it would be a big seller.      ...

Hickory Top WMA Clean-up 21-June-2026

        It has been about a month since my last clean-up at Hickory Top and I thought it was about time I get back over there. I wasn't up for taking the canoe out, so I went to explore by foot with the goal of taking out one bag. The temperature was in the 90s, biting flies and mosquitos were out and the humidity along the lake all made this different from the other clean-ups before. That might sound bad, but this turned out to be a really fun clean-up.         Getting out to a new area I had to walk through portions I had already done before. There are always things that are missed from the time before and I did find a few items before making it to an all new area, but the highlight was really just the scenery.
